A day of shows amid the threat of wind and rain did not stop a very determined Fashion World from spreading a little color on Bryant Park. In a valiant effort to give us Spring before Winter, the tradition of Fashion Week lives on in the City that is the seat of hope.

L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stafani is styled for young (think high school) urbanites. While there are some very beautiful pieces she does not often pair them into outfits. Still, she deserves credit for holding the course in fashion design during trying times like these. Much of the collection is knit and soft. My favorite piece was a cocktail dress with stunning design and color.

Jen Kao known as a nightclub scene designer had a collection of ready to wear that was wonderfully just that – wearable. The cutest thing about the collection, however, was the designer herself. Many of the ensembles were overpowered by the distracting feathery anklets on the shoes with the exception of one particularly beautiful gown.

Prabal Gurung’s second collection was Star of the Show today. Every single piece was OMG beautiful. The collection used a wonderfully concise color palette of tonals and electric blue. This designer has the gift of draping fabric for a dress that rivals the Greek Statues in the Met. The ties at the ankle not only didn’t take anything away from each look, but gave you the “Can you stand it” how cute is that goosebumps you want to feel at these Events.
