Fierce and Feminine – Yoana Baraschi SS2011

When it comes to Fashion Shows, I have to say I am getting used to the “Box”. So many fun things come in a box. Chocolates, presents, honey nut cheerios (small obsession) and sometimes Fashion Presentations. The advantage of this type of Presentation is that you can gaze at each look for as long as you want. The second advantage is for the designer, who is free to create a set stage in which to present said looks. At Yoana Baraschi editors and fashion lovers alike were happily snapping away with whatever type of camera was on hand at the Saturday Afternoon Show. Spring will arrive in due time but there was a breath of it in September in the Yoana Baraschi presentation. Near doll like ladies day dresses were grouped and posed in soft pastel colors and sweet ankle socks bringing to mind a picnic on a lawn of flowers. Hummingbird patterns and light silk georgettes, chiffons and crepe de chines combined with softly structured jackets evoking an almost warm summer dreamy  feel to the collection. Many of the dresses were lifted right out of the 1930’s. What was the most fun, during this presentation a “photo shoot” took place in one of the corners of the room. Each model had her turn at the infinity wall while we watched the creative director work with the photographer to produce a cameo. Charming.
