BCBG was all about the long and lean. The show was packed with celebs and fans of the prolific couple Max and Lubov Azria. The music pounded and the huge theater with U shaped runway showed the new fall line in perfect light. Dresses were long and straight, yet soft and flowing. Fabrics were light and flowing. They were going for simplicity with an updated vibe. Nearly every piece had a thin belt placed low in a drop-waist effect that were sometimes buckled in the back. Midway through the show, however, the music changed to “16 Shade of Black and Blue” by Fujiya & Miyagi. The colors of the garments changed to black and blue and the tempo and texture changed with it. Sheepskin capes were added and the boots got heavier and more military. In an interview after the show Max Azria was asked what word would describe fashion in this collection and he replied “Fresh, fashion needs to be fresh.” and in congratulating Lubov, who was busily making sure everything was being handled backstage, she responded with grace and gratitude for those of us that love the brand.
