DKNY Fall 2011

Proof that red and pink can mix in something other than a tequila sunrise, Donna Karan’s DKNY Fall 2011 Show was all that and more. Ten foot neon lettering filled the back wall where the models emerged onto the “streets of New York”. The vibe was, young, hot, urban and definitely chic. Shredded minis played with shearling and wool capes, Houndstooth plaids cozied up with skinny pants and Lipstick Melton skirts. Especially sweet were the portrait collars on shirts and Teddy Boy Coats. Some of the city hot colors were described as tangella, henna, and lipstick. They all made me think of sunset over the Hudson River and snappy, hip girls that have places to go. Stacked heels, Mary-Janes, hidden platforms, and cap toes will rock their shoes next fall. The tri-color handbags will be swinging on their shoulders as, Donna says, they hop on those scooters and take on the Big City. Yeah, Show Me Something New York!
