Couture is a little like being a sculptor with fabric, feathers, gems and lace. Oh, there is also the infinite amount of hours to dream, design, draw, and put it all together. Then there are the Shows, where all of the couture pieces are put together in a collection and clever fashion people watch and try to decide where the inspiration came from to create such fantastic fashion artistry. The pressure is incredible for designers as the world waits (impatiently), watches (critically) and pronounces judgement (profusely) sometimes without regard for the unseen things that go into Couture. Likewise the unseen things that don’t go into the finished design, like stone that is chipped away and swept up with the sculptor’s dust pan, so much of couture is painstakingly addition and subtraction. Some will grace a Red Carpet or two, some will be worn by the glamorous and famous. But most will serve to spark the imagination of those who come after. With Couture Week behind us, and beauty firmly still in the eye of the beholder, feast upon some of Couture’s finest.
