Here’s the thing: Today’s American Woman has places to go. Clothes gotta fit, they have to work from morning to night and they gotta make her look good. Oh, and she wants to have fun doing it. Well, at DKNY they are all over that. Spring 2012 just got a whole new vibe of bold color and versatile textures. From soft fluid tops that trail like the scent of perfume to the popped up strawberry red and cobalt flower gardens pants suits that let the world know she’s front and center; this collection is bold and brilliant. There were fantastic shoes to go with every look. Stripes, flowers, dots and color blocks; high and wedged, platformed and ankle cuffed; enough to send the Shoe Girls into a coma. Accessories didn’t stop there, every look had matching hats to remind us that SS stands for Spring and Summer. The sun is out and there is nothing chicer than a wide brimmed hat to pull it all together. Handbags and clutches, don’t even get me started. Stop me if I’m wrong but there’s a reason they call it Hot Pink. Flowing dresses and blouses topped with brilliant wide brimmed hot pink hats and shoes were outfits screaming to make a swath through life. Just ask two of Fashion’s most colorful people, Anna Dello Russo and Mickey Boardman, they were there. Make it fun, make it bold, make it American Expressionist DKNY at her best.
