To say there was excitement in the room before the show was an understatement. Perry Ellis has become the icon for classic Menswear and gorgeous male models. The show has become the place to be at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Designer John Crocco, sporting new clean cut hair himself, delivered an incredibly wearable men’s collection. Knits were soft and touchable, slacks were relaxed and easy to wear, jackets were capricious and included lots of variety, blazers were as diverse as plaid linen to denim. A man could find an entire wardrobe from the Perry Ellis SS2012 Collection. The accessories have gained depth: scarves, belts, shoes for all reasons, watches, sunglasses; it was all there and very desirable. The finale, which has become legend, had all the models re-enter the stage in swimwear, to the delight of the guests. The best part of this collection was it’s versatility. Colors were a Spring palette but muted to engage a broader market. The collection was so deep that pieces could be mixed and matched for nearly any stylish, classic All-American man’s taste and occasion.
