Custo Barcelona seems to have a fan loyalty rivaling a Rock Star. Not only does he present a spectacular Fashion Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, he introduces another technology to fabric each year. This year was 3D. With a three dimension runway show the “Tripolar” theme showed Dual (casual looks), Kaleidoscopio (geometric universe inspired fabrics), and Mirame (3D Graphic techniques on the fabric). Known for his prolific use of color, Custo did not disappoint. Drenched in color, there were even swimsuits. Kaleidoscopio lived up to its name with a myriad of color profusion. The shoes were deliciously, colorfully freekish and delighfully spiked and dazzled. Mirame proved to be more than expected. Show attendees watched with 3D glasses for a new kind of Fashion Experience. All the Mirame designs were unique; one dress even had a Marilyn Monroe type mouth in the lower front that had 3D technology. Legs seemed to ungulate and shimmer. Custo continues to push the boundaries of clothing and technology, fusing the two into a trippy place you can be transported to.
