With such exotic fabrics as silk marocain, mica linen, and silk devore; one would expect all floaty and lady-like behaving day dresses at Narciso Rodriguez. But down the dramatic edge-to-edge white flat runway was some amazingly edgy additions to his otherwise “restrained elegance” vision. Highly influenced by architecture, Narciso Rodriguez incorporated lines and drama for such pieces as black and orange silk morocain bras, and completely sheer devore dresses with plunging necklines. From loose fitting garments to slacks and coats, the color palette was subtl and yet still bold: White; yet stark, black; always paired to further the intensity, tangy citrine and flame tangerine for spice, and cool aqua, sometimes hidden in the lining but visible nonetheless. Models had ladylike chignon hair but it was painted in the colors of the Collection. True to his vision of elegance and grace but with a decided edge, the exquisite Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2012 Collection was a major Fashion Week high point.
