Karl Lagerfeld, in the way he always does, has given Paris a Fashion Show. Transforming the Grand Palais into a pearl white underwater world with models emerging from a giant bubble filled shell, this was a Chanel Fashion Show. Over 80 looks, floated like gorgeous sea sirens among the shells and seaweed to the sound of Florence Welch, singer from Florence and the Machine. It was the spectacle, it was meant to be. For a week sadly lacking in fashion spectacle, Chanel has made up for it in one grandly stunning show. The attending celebrity didn’t seem to shine as brightly as the fashion itself. Irridescent blouses, crystal encrusted gowns and pearls, ropes of them, even a seashell clutch, encircled design after design. A huge variety of materials from woven wools to opaque tissue paper floral organza filled the collection with spring perfection. Models, with fresh, clean, just out of the water looks, moved through a wonderfully choreographed show, in the palette of the inside of a seashell. Chanel gives us a Spring, gentle, soft and delightfully feminine. In the grand scale of the show, attendees seemed as insignificant as pebbles on the ocean floor but their appreciation was what mattered. From seperates, to sportswear, to suits, to cocktail and evening; this is Fashion. All photos courtesy of Style.com.
