We are supposed to be in the “throws of winter” but in the North East (yes, sometimes Miami Olivia lives up there), when one can walk the dog in shorts,in January, it is time to think of Spring. Spring 2012 that is. Now, common sense tells us that eventually it will turn cold for more than 2 days, it will rain down ice and snow, and we will wear those cushy little boots we bought, but for now, it wouldn’t hurt to get a jump on things and get “prepped for Spring”. It seems several designers knew ahead that we were leaning to the ultra-preppy, retro-cheeky, pin stripes and poplin kind of Spring. In fact, there is a sneaking suspicion they planned it that way. Even otherwise more formal designers, like Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier ventured into the Prep Arena with stripes and white collars, brass buttons and pleated skirts, edging Prep King Tommy Hilfiger right off his throne. Fabrics were a tad more modern and draping was mingled in, but the look was unmistakable “Preppy”. Nothing daunted, we love a bit of snap and circumstance, bow-ties and nautical bits. Bring on Spring, Prep and All!
