Plum is all over the Fall 2012 color palettes of many designers but none used it as well as Nanette Lepore. No only did the color saturate everything from shoes to the pint on briefcases, to fur coats, to bead mosaics on sweater sleeves. Shiny and sparkly was there, unmistakably a trademark of Lepore, made obvious by Front Row benchwarmer; Mickey Boardman, who never saw a sparkle he didn’t love. But the real core of this collection was in the details. Rear peplum ruffles on jackets, double breasted buttons ripe as berries, incredible beading on the edge of sleeves, even pattern on the shoes, all spell out the Lepore “Deal in the Details”. Sassy little skirts in gold lame, a cloque dress in chartreuse, and pants in electric blue took this collection from Fall to Fun. Every piece is wearable, we only wish we could get it to wear right now!
