Shoes on the Mind

It may have come a little late, this lovely gift from a dear friend. The Metropolitan Museum of Art calendar of Shoes. It did not matter. What was inside gave such inspiration that we couldn’t resist a post on the thing on every fashion addict’s mind; Shoes. A little research showed that the MET has literally thousands of shoes from seemingly the beginning of time until current seasons in their archives. Shoes are art, there is no doubt. The intricate shoe ornaments make for gorgeous holiday trees and gifts from early Dior to modern Prada at the Met Holiday Shop. And the 2013 Met Shoe Calendar proves to be even better, including handbags. Not only are designers inspired by shoes from the past but they in turn inspire clothing and even art. Some of the shoes in the MET treasure troves are amazing in their cutting edge contemporary shape and colors. We bet you will have a hard time believing that some of these beauties came from as early as 1920 and 1930. Have fun, scroll through and get inspired to do a little Shoe Shopping, it’s almost time for Fashion Week and Fashion’s Night Out.
