Richard Chai’s Spring 2013 Fashion Show almost poetically unfolded. He must have been thinking of Spring like a blue sky morning sprinkled with a field of flowers, then a bright flash of afternoon sun followed by dusk with muted soft tones eventually deepening into evening with the pale moon, stars and a shimmer on the sea. The flow of the show was transfixing and yet the collection was flirty, even sporty at times. Showing both men’s and women’s together, we again concentrated on the sweetly feminine women’s line. The skater skirt was a constant theme throughout the collection, both as a separate skirt paired with various tops, or as a dress form. Short, fun and flirty; these were for fantastically athletic legs. One dress had a decided tennis look to it, furthering the sporty appeal. Jackets, pants (both cropped and long) racer back tops, and shorts rounded out the collection making it a splendid wardrobe builder for spring and summer.
