Perfect petal pink pants. Say it three times fast and just imagine Peter Som designed a collection for Spring 2013 and you have it about right. Poised with a profusion of florals, utterly feminine and even a little retro 50’s styling, this was a stunning collection for the San Francisco Bay Area native. He claims architecture as his inspiration, yet other than the smooth lines to many of the pieces, this was anything but geometric. There were a few school-girl skirt and sweater looks that sported chevrons but the mood was floral and silk. Beautiful beading and applique graced several tunic/skirt combinations bringing them up to the level of special occasion day wear to evening. The shoes were pictures in beauty. Metallic tipped and cloth floral or leather uppers with thin heels, would bring swoons to any female foot. Little cloth clutches paired with the teeniest shorts imaginable were put together with richly colored sweaters and peter-pan collars. California sunshine must always be on Som’s mind as his sought after sunglasses were pushed up on several models heads like a headband. The little net hair pieces on the rest of the models solidified the element of Special Occasion. Perhaps Mr. Som feels everyday should be special.
