Maybe it was the live music by Tennis, or maybe it was the beachy keen hair but as everyone at the Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013 fashion show was screaming “Look at all the Color”, we were thinking just the opposite “Look at all the White”. Perhaps it was the distraction of Rebecca Minkoff handbags, that all the coolest NYC girls seem to tote around, now there was some Color! Since beauty is still firmly fixed in the eye of the beholder, we won’t squabble about the color palette, we will just bring to light some of the finer workings of this collection for Spring. First of all it was happy, there was such a joyful vibe to the entire set of looks that no one could help but love them. While not everyone is a fan of the embroider-the-hem-of-your-bell-bottoms late 60’s, Rebecca skillfully brings this into 2013 with cropping tops, adding zippers and ties, mixing on a little preppy plaid, and even even throwing in a trailing hemline or two. These were easy clothes to wear, mix up with each other or other designers, just a fun collection. One dress even had a white pinafore with pin-tucks, but it was set next to a decidedly athletic top and bowling bag style handbag. This was not a hippie or even a haute hippie collection. No, these are clothes that girls all over America can wear in the spring and summer. After all, isn’t that what this is all about?
