Oscar de la Renta makes beautiful clothes. We could stop there but one does not appreciate just how beautiful until you have seen them up close. The Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 Collection was breathtaking, again. From the first slightly preppy day look to the last fairytale gown, this Spring Collection embodied grace, elegance, and charm. He also introduced some new things to the fashionable set with the use of rubberized spandex (in a few tops and an entire dress) and the highly buzzed about “Cocktail Shorts”. The zinger of the show was the succession of Gumball Candy Store colors. There were all the gorgeous tweed suits, silk taffeta dresses, stripes, checks, and Red Carpet Ball Gowns that he he is known for. Paired with all that fabulous color were details such as contrasting all over tassels, contrasting over-lace, embroidered patterns, tulle worked to look like feathers and flowers, single piece statement jewelry, and gown hemlines cut shorter in the front to reveal shoes. Now can we talk about the shoes? Every look had corresponding shoes to match. Some of the shoes had details that rivaled the gowns: contrast piping and bows, petal flower embellishments, and laser cut leather eyelet. The level of excitement and acclaim given to Oscar is evident as he takes his bow with his star model, Karlie Kloss, at the end. A true gentleman, Oscar understands how to dress a lady. To say he is adored for it is an understatement..
