Rolando Santana Spring 2013

Rolando Santana continues to develop as a designer evidenced by the line to see his New York Fashion Week show that snakes around the block. The fashion pack in line are those chic, club going, loyal fashionable followers that know a thing or two. While Santana’s influence increases, some wish he would show at the Tents with the Big Guys, others decidedly do not. They love their Rolando the way he is and don’t want him tainted by the fashion riot that hits Lincoln Center twice a year. But like it or not, his design sense and beautiful dresses are fast making him a Fashion Week  and Boutique favorite. His Spring 2013 Collection was full of dresses; party dresses, cocktail dresses, gala dresses, and I-want-to-wear-this-all-the-time dresses. The light layered skirts with just a touch of hem lift are perfect for a twirl on the dance floor. Slim sheaths in mints, jade, icy blues and juicy tangerines with shingled chiffon and python print will be go-to dresses for that day to evening look with the right jacket or accessory. One particularly stunning mint cocktail dress had all-over petal applique that moved like fluttering butterflies. Two designs showed dyed ostrich feathers moving them right into Red Carpet possibilities. It is a joy to see good things happen for a designer with this much talent and promise. We continue to watch for more fabulous fashion from this popular fashion designer.
