For Gucci Spring 2013, Frida Giannini showed 1960 mod brights in flowing caftan lines. This was a shift away from the embellished and accessorized looks from the past. This was a clean line, loose fitting Gucci with minimal fuss. The looks were elongated; tunics and gowns flowed. Even dresses had long side ruffles to show movement. She was channeling the glamorous days of Elizabeth Taylor with the fashion jewelry, giant sunglasses, and 60’s bright looks. The sexiness came in the subtleties; thigh high slits, belly-button deep vee cuts in gowns, and one shoulder ruffled low backs. Just because lines are uncomplicated doesn’t mean we throw away the ultra chic glamour. Sometimes it’s good to see an unexpected peek at what’s underneath while wowing you with explosive color.
