It comes as no surprise that Chloé is fast becoming one of our favorite Brands. Clare Waight Keller (according to Vogue) dipped into the Chloé archives not for direct inspiration but wisdom from founder Gaby Aghion. What she found was this profound quote: ‘I never explain anything. I live my life, and I live the life I love.’ Hence when the founder coined the term “prete-a -porter” as a way not only to reach more women with beautiful clothing that were turned off by the stiffness of Haute Couture but to free these women from it. To bring that single element to the forefront and make it into a Collection for Spring 2013 is what she did. Lines were unfettered, flowing, ruffled and pleated with gentle touches rather than overworked. Her interpretation comes across as pure delight. Feminine, fluttery without fussiness. Colors are crisp yet warm and inviting. Even the metallic leather shoes (huge for Spring 2013) reflected that gentle grace. With soft layering and transparent panels, applique flowers and even a few stripes Keller, in her third season (and the Brand’s 60th year celebration), solidly infuses her voice into the Chloé Brand with firm yet graceful direction. There is nothing here not to love.
